Motorbase's BTCC title attack hits the Airwaves

Wednesday, March 06 2013

Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship challengers Motorbase has unveiled a new title sponsor as it prepares to mount a serious attack on the 2013 title. The cars will compete under the Airwaves Racing banner from the opening round at Brands Hatch (30/31 March), the team's local circuit.

The two NGTC-specification Focuses will be driven by retained partnership Mat Jackson and Aron Smith, both race winners in the series. The car was debuted at Snetterton midway through the 2012 season, and racked up its first victory in the penultimate round at Silverstone.

The squad is currently undergoing a pre-season test programme with the Focus and is scheduled to appear alongside rival teams at Brands Hatch next Tuesday (12 March). Entry to the circuit is free of charge on the day.

The expanded deal with Airwaves is also set to include a number of initiatives during the season to enable fans to get closer to the team, including a new range of merchandise.

Airwaves Racing Team Principal David Bartrum said: "We're absolutely delighted to welcome Airwaves back on board as title sponsor for this season.  This year marks the brand's fourth year with the team and once again shows the strength and appeal of the championship to attract leading brands such as Wrigley. We're also very happy to have Redstone, Truphone and Addison Lee back with us as major sponsors. With the new NGTC cars and increased backing from our sponsors, 2013 is gearing up to be our strongest ever challenge on the title, hopefully we can repay them with a BTCC title."

Tickets for the opening round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch on 30/31 March are available from £26 with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
