In the history of the series there's never been a more exciting blend of young, upcoming riders and seasoned campaigners like Shane Byrne and the returning Ryuichi Kiyonari. This year's field has won 22 national championships between them and scored 18 race wins at world level!
Kiyo vs Shakey - the 'War for Four' MCE BSB titles
The two most successful riders in the history of MCE BSB will go head-to-head in a quest for a record breaking fourth title in 2013. Kiyonari has two more race wins than Byrne (43 to 41) and is six years younger - but Shakey has never been faster, or more determined to make history.
The clash between these two Superbike legends is set to be one of the major talking points of 2013.
The young contenders
Young Brit Alex Lowes has been rewarded for his breakthrough performances last year with a top ride at Samsung Honda alongside Kiyonari, whilst reigning National Superstock 1000 champion Keith Farmer has landed a dream role as Shane Byrne's team-mate at Rapid Solicitor's Kawasaki. Tommy Bridewell has just confirmed his ride at Bathams Honda after a brilliant campaign in 2012 that saw him reach the Showdown phase of the championship for the first time.
Aussie Josh Brookes came closer than ever to a maiden MCE BSB crown title last year and he's signed again with Tyco Suzuki in 2013 to mount another title fight. James Ellison is back after a stint in MotoGP whilst Jon Kirkham, Dan Linfoot and Karl Harris all return. Crowd favourites and BSB veterans Michael Rutter and Chris Walker are also back!
The foreign invasion
Highly-rated young American PJ Jacobsen graduates to MCE BSB for 2013 alongside Brookes at Tyco Suzuki, whilst double Australian Superbike champion Josh Waters joins Ellison at Milwaukee Yamaha. Czech Jakub Smrz and Italian Superbike champion Matteo Baiocco both add to the international flavour!
