The new BRDC Formula 4 Championship has attracted leading
Formula Renault 3.5 team Comtec Racing to the series, with the
Norfolk based squad running three cars next year.
Comtec was originally founded as the works Van Diemen Formula Ford
team in 1973, before moving to Formula Renault 2.0 and building
impressive junior racing credentials with numerous British and
European titles to their name.
Now an independent team based near Snetterton circuit, Comtec
first entered the Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2006 and made an
immediate impression by running Alx Daniellson to title glory in
their very first year.
Since then they've enjoyed success with drivers including Jon
Lancaster, Max Chilton, Stefano Colleti and, more recently, Nick
Yelloy who currently lies fourth in the standings heading into the
penultimate rounds next weekend with two wins and four
podiums.
Roly Vincini from Comtec Racing said: "We're really looking
forward to the new BRDC Formula 4 Championship as it will allow
young drivers to develop the skills required to compete at higher
levels."
Jonathan Palmer, Formula 4 Series Director said: "I'm very pleased
to welcome Comtec Racing to F4. The presence of such a successful
and internationally-recognised team is a great endorsement of the
package we've so carefully put together. I look forward to seeing
what they can achieve next year."
