Lanan Racing has completed its line-up for the 2013 BRDC Formula
4 Championship following the signing of Daniel Headlam. The
20-year-old from Surrey will join team-mate Jake Hughes for the
inaugural season which gets under way at the Silverstone Grand Prix
circuit in April.
Headlam joins BRDC F4 after showing promising results in karting
and selected Formula Ford races, with 2013 marking his first full
season of slicks and wings competition. He first started racing in
2008 in the Mini Max and Junior Max karting series before getting
his first taste of single seaters in 2010 testing a Formula Ford.
The following two seasons then saw him take part in selected
Formula Ford races with Medina Motorsport, recording a best of 10th
in the Formula Ford Festival Kent Class last year.
Headlam, who is studying politics at Aberystwyth University, said:
"I wanted to drive a more technically advanced car at a good level
with a sensible budget and Formula 4 was the obvious choice. With a
sophisticated data and engine gearbox control system, slick tyres
and aerodynamics, there is a lot to learn, but with the experience
and skills of Lanan Racing I'm sure that my transition to slicks
and wings will be a smooth one."
Lanan Racing Team Principal Graham Johnson added: "It is a great
start to 2013 to have both our seats filled already and with Jake
Hughes and Daniel Headlam confirmed, we can get down to our testing
and development programme a lot sooner."
