Front running F3 Cup squad Chris Dittmann Racing have become the
fifth team to join the new BRDC Formula 4 Championship after
confirming they will run at least one car next year.
Based in Tewkesbury, the team boasts more than 20 years of single
seater and GT race experience and has developed an impressive
reputation for delivering the best prepared cars in the
paddock.
The squad is run by professional racer Chris Dittmann who's tasted
success in Formula Renault BARC, the Ginetta G50 Cup as well as
MSV's F3 Cup, where he's currently leading the drivers' standings
after collecting six podiums and five class wins - including an
impressive double victory at Silverstone recently. As such, CDR
have become one of the leading outfits in the highly competitive
series lying second in the teams championship with one round left
to play out.
CDR Team Principal Chris Dittmann said: "I'm excited that Chris
Dittmann Racing will be joining the BRDC F4 Championship next
season. The concept is exactly what British Motorsport needs at the
minute and it will be an excellent way for young karters to
progress up the single seater ladder. We are still very much
involved with kart racing and are currently in contention to win
the British KZ2 Gearbox Championship with one race to go. We have
had many years experience helping young drivers to make a smooth
and successful transition from karts to cars. It's great for our
team to expand as we will now be running in the BRDC F4 and the MSV
F3 Cup next year. We hope we can link up our efforts in both
championships. It's going to be a busy season in 2013, but we can't
wait for it to begin!"
He added: "The design of the BRDC F4 car looks great and it has a
great crash structure meeting all the FIA requirements, which is
important as safety is paramount in motorsport these days. To have
a paddle shift gearbox is a luxury which would normally be found in
a much more expensive formula, so it is great value for
money."
Jonathan Palmer, Formula 4 Series Director, said: "I'm very
pleased to welcome Chris and his team to the BRDC F4 series who
bring with them a great track record in MSV's highly competitive F3
Cup. With this experience, together with Chris' own driver
expertise, I'm sure they'll be running at the sharp end from next
season in what is shaping up to be a fantastic and highly
competitive gird."
