BRDC F4 chooses Yokohama tyres for new MSV F4-013

Thursday, December 13 2012

The BRDC Formula 4 Championship has confirmed that its new car will feature control tyres from leading motorsport manufacturer Yokohama.

Already the official tyre supplier for championships including the FIA World Touring Car Championship and ATS German F3, together with the all-new FIA European Rally Championship, the Japanese manufacturer will provide all dry and wet tyres for the new single seater series.

Drawing upon their extensive experience as a global single seater tyre supplier, Yokohama has focused on producing a tyre that will offer drivers both superb performance as well as durability, in line with F4's commitment to offering outstanding value.

At the front, Yokohama's 200/50VR13 (N2766) dry tyres will be used with 240/45/VR13 (N2767) on the rear. The same sizes will be used for the moulded wet tyres with all drivers receiving one set of new slick tyres at each race meeting together with unlimited wet tyres.

Mark Evans from Yokohama said: "We're delighted to be involved in the new BRDC Formula 4 Championship which we know is going to be a great success and a fantastic stepping stone for young aspiring drivers. Using all our previous experience in this area, and in keeping with the cost-effective approach of the series, we've opted for a tyre which can offer both optimum performance and durability.

"We'll be running an extensive testing programme early next year and throughout the season we'll be offering full technical support with a dedicated team attending all race weekends and official test days."
