Over 75 cars will kick off the 2013 season in spectacular style at Brands Hatch on Saturday 12 January, for the circuit's third annual winter stage rally. The MGJ Engineering Brands Hatch Winter Stages includes both tarmac and gravel surfaces at the Kent venue, and the seasonal date should also guarantee plenty of sideways action!
Eight stages will be made up from sections of the Indy circuit, paddock, access roads and the venue's dedicated rally stage during the one day event. Ending at dusk, blazing headlights, flaming exhausts and glowing brake discs will light up the January sky.
The huge entry list is as varied as
ever, with hatchbacks, purpose-built rally specials, kit cars and
supercars included. Exotica on display ranges from the Ferrari 308
GTB Michelotto, and wild MG Metro 6R4 purpose-built rally car. An
ex-works Renault 5 Turbo 1 also stars on the entry list, whilst the
Darrian T9 kit sports car that won the inaugural event will be back
for more success. Fans of classic Escort, Subaru and Mitsubishi Evo
rally cars will be spoilt for choice with a healthy number amongst
an eclectic line-up.
A variety of course layouts will transform Brands Hatch into a rally arena with unrivalled views of powerslides, handbrake turns and Scandinavian flicks. Many sections of the track will be taken in the 'wrong' direction too!
Unlike conventional stage rallies,
spectators will enjoy an unrivalled view of the action thanks to
the circuit's natural amphitheatre. There will be vantage points
all around the Indy circuit, with the Paddock Hill and Druids areas
opened up. Meanwhile the Hailwoods and Pit Straight grandstands
will be available free of charge, whilst the more adventurous will
be able to watch from the rally stage, subject to demand.
Tickets for the MGJ Engineering Brands Hatch Winter Stages on Saturday 12 January are available in advance for £10, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
